IBM Connections iFix LO87906 may cause Files not work correctly in some circumstances

I performed an upgrade of Connections from 5.0 to 5.5 for a customer, and in the new environment Files were not working correctly using the web UI. When a user clicked on Files the page would get stuck showing “Loading…”.

In a chat with Michael Urspringer from IBM I found he had stumbled up on the same issue and that he solved it uninstalling iFix LO87906. So I did the same and the problem was gone; there is no official from IBM Support at this time, but the fact that two installations had the same problem and solved it by removing the fix leads toward the identification of LO87906 as the culprit.

I have other installations, both new and upgraded from 5.0, where this does not happen so it seems that the fix breaks Files only in some specific circumstances I have not been able to identify, in any case if you see Files not working correctly it would be worth removing that fix and see if this solves the problem.

    Hello,
Yesterday I installed my first IBM Connection server of course, with this fix.
Unfortunately, dont think to remove it, just looking error elsewhere.
Now, nothing works and must install server again.

If nothing works is not because you installed that fix. It affects only the displaying of Files in a browser.

Looks like I too have come up against this on a new deployment on RHEL but didn’t on other deployments on Windows and CentOS. Odd!

I recognized that on Windows and also on Linux deployments. We did a research and found, that the RTE application is corrupt after applying this Fix and also a the plugins folder in installedApps//Common.ear/connections.web.resources.war/WEB-INF/eclipse. Just redeploy the RTE app from Connections xkit folder and replace the plugin folder with one from a healthy system with the same fix level.

      HI Marius,

Are you saying that uninstalling the fix is not enough and the application needs to be redeployed and the plugin folder replaced? How do you know that the application is corrupt and the directory replaced?
